What is Counselling and Psychotherapy

Counselling…… is an active process that is designed to give you the time, space & encouragement to explore & understand the issues you bring. It is a means of getting professional help & support during times of disturbance and distress, helping you to think about your problems from a different perspective. The aim is that in time Counselling will increase your self awareness and the choices that are open to you, restoring your inner peace and equilibrium.

Psychotherapy….. Is an interpersonal relationship between therapist & client to aid you in, sensitive & deeply personal problems of life.
The aim is to increase the Clients individual sense of their own well-being.

Counselling & Psychotherapy…. are designed to improve the mental health of the Client.

How I Work

I believe that each individual is unique and has the ability to fulfil their own potential. As a Therapist my aim is to help my Client, regardless of creed, gender, nationality or sexual orientation, to find appropriate ways of meeting their own unique needs. I help my client in their right to make choices & take responsibility for their decisions & actions on their journey for change & fulfilment.

I offer a safe, supportive, confidential environment in which enables my client and I to build a safe & secure relationship, essential for our working alliance.

I have an empathic, sensitive, non-judgmental, professional approach. Working with many issues including: health, anxiety, depression, relationships, stress, bereavement & loss, life changes, assertiveness, abuse, disability, self esteem & confidence, phobias, obsessive compulsive behaviour, unresolved issue's, sex & sexual identity, disability & work, child & family related issues.

The Cost to you

I offer long & short term, face to face 1hr appointments usually weekly, for individuals, couples, elderly, young people and family.

Affordable prices for all, as I feel it is important to offer help to those on lower incomes and to help Doctors with people on long NHS waiting lists
to be able to offer the choice of Private Counselling.

I offer an initial 30 minute assessment meeting for £10. This introductory session gives the client chance to see if I am the right person for you to work with and for me
to see if I can offer appropriate support.

Full price per session before concessions is £35

Young People

I also specialise in working with young people helping with emotional & psychological problems they encounter, including: anxieties relating to exams & study, general stress & anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, eating problems, self confidence & low self esteem, managing transitions & difficult decisions, difficulties with alcohol or drugs,
issues with sex & sexuality, self harm, anger management.
